MY TEACHING

Picture
I have been teaching since 2001. I hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE, Primary), a U.K teaching Licence (QTS), and have I.B training. I am passionate about teaching, librarianship, books, and design.

My Teaching Journey

My teaching journey started after a stay with a teacher-friend during a business trip to France in 2000. During that stay I made the decision to change my career path and that is when my educational experiences began.
In 2001 I completed a CELTA course and moved to Japan where I worked as a teacher for SHANE English Schools Japan. The experience was great but I wanted to develop my teaching skills further.

In 2004 I moved back to the U.K and completed a PGCE in Elementary Education at
Brunel University, West London. The course was  demanding but also very rewarding.

In 2005 I joined Ashmead Combined School as a NQT. Ashmead is an excellent school with an amazing, hard working staff. They have been consistently ranked high in national value-added league tables.

I returned to Japan in December 2006. I joined Tokyo International School, and The British School, as a part-time supply teacher.

I have been working at the Tokyo Korean School since May 2008. I am the Science teacher for grade four. Prior to that I was a classroom teacher and the librarian.

Between 2008 and 2016 I also ran a number of websites including TKS Library and Sakura Medal.

In 2014/2015 on Saturdays I  worked as the Saturday manager for TIS's after school program. I trained and supported their teaching staff as well as developed their Saturday school program. This managerial role was immensely reward and allowed me to gain another skill set and further understanding in how successful schools are managed.
